marintimeFor several decades, the Nigerian economy has remained largely dependent on one major source of revenue; crude oil, to the neglect of several other sectors with potential to contribute meaningfully towards strengthening the economy. One of such sectors that have remained largely unexploited in Nigeria is the maritime industry. The Nigerian maritime sector accounts for over 65 percent of the total maritime trade traffic in volume and value within the West and Central African sub-region according to NIMASA.

The vast opportunities in the Nigerian maritime sector include ship building and ship repairs, liner services, shipping services and international shipping, tramp services, coastal water transportation services, ports and ports operation, terminal and jetty development ,towage and pilotage services, human capacity development, cargo handling stevedoring ,storage and warehousing ,inland container depots ,supply of boats, anchor handling tug ships, cable and pipeline laying vessels ,ship financing and marine insurance etc
